Creating a sense of place and property identity is the driving force for the landscape design of Neal Street. The experience begins before entering the property with segmented stucco walls which run parallel to the sidewalk. The walls control access into the garden, and act as a visual cue that you are entering a very special place.

Surrounded by a collector’s garden of sun loving, arid plant specimens, the pool is a magical gem; designed to be discovered rather than a focal point. Palm fronds, and existing canopies of heritage pecans obscure the sky as you float in the 22’ x 10’ pool. Succulents and soft ornamental grasses weep over the pool edge obscuring views from neighboring properties.

The plantings along the east property line are inspired by the bright colors of the neighborhood. Once a retail nursery, the site has rich loamy soils where established grapefruit and fig flourish. Expanding on these rare Austin growing conditions, the east property line is packed with bright blossoms of poppies, bougainvilleas and roses, creating a cheerful garden.
