Shaney Clemmons, ASLA, PLA

Shaney is the lead Landscape Architect and Founder of Shademaker Studio. She has over 20 years of experience developing and implementing landscape preservation, planning and urban design projects throughout the United States. During her career she has developed the skill to move between big-picture thinking and detail, ensuring that the original vision of a project is carried out through every phase. She understands that good design is contextual, never approaching a project with a preconceived solution or a signature design in mind. The history, community and story of a site are critical to creating the perfect balance between the built and natural environments.

Shaney spent her childhood spelunking the lava flow caves of Southern Idaho and working the fields of the family farm, cutting and baling alfalfa on the Camas Prairie. These early experiences shaped how she spends her time as an adult, both professionally and personally, and have made her a passionate observer and advocate for the outdoors.

Shaney’s connection to the landscape and keen understanding of the fabrication and construction process allows her to design at a range of scales, from site systems and detail. She believes a collaborative design process is the most rewarding and successful.

If you email Shaney and get an automatic OOO response, she is most likely exploring the beautiful landscapes of the United States on her motorcycle!
